As a contribution for the 20th anniversary of the Akademie Schloss Solitude, the Stuttgart based artist Hagen Betzwieser suggested a concept for various reformation measures concerning the daily life at the Akademie. One of the suggested measures is dealing with the constantly growing accumulation of objects on the attic.
These objects are mostly household utensils but also forgotten or left behind holdings of fellows which had been temporarily stored, had then been forgotten and finally took on a timeless state. Over the years, this interwoven organic thicket of partly unmanageable objects slowed down – like a viscous liquid – the accessability and usability of the Akademie‘s rare storage spaces.
»With his mission Space Waste, Institutional Hazards, Hagen Betzwieser tries to decode the Solitude attic and its secrets and to create free spaces for the upcoming years through the restructuring.«
